Alice In Chains start gofundmepage for Scotty Olson.

Before I start, let me just clarify that Alice In Chains is one of my all time favorite bands. I wouldn’t blog about them if they weren’t.

However, this blog is centered towards this particular subject – not about their music, but about the story with Scotty Olson and my thoughts about it.

To start, Scotty Olson if you don’t know already is a singer/songwriter and musician who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He’s basically the best friend of everybody in Alice In Chains, and that’s why they started this page.

What has happened to Scotty is really sad, however while I read that they set up a gofundmepage for him – something struck my mind really fast.

Alice In Chains are multi-millionaires. As they should be. They are hard working musicians who make/made really great music.

Considering that fact of them being millionaires – why do they need to start a gofundme?

They have the money to make a donation to Scotty theirselves, so why start a gofundmepage if you can help yourself?

It would be like me starting a gofundme for my kitten William who needs paw amputation surgery, even though I have the money to pay for it.

It just doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me.

Before you get upset with me, remember my love for this band. As musicians and people.

All I’m questioning here is why they need to raise money for him, even though they have the money to help.

What happened to Scotty is tragic, not to mention really scary. But, if I was a multi millionaire and my close friend was diagnosed with a disease – I wouldn’t start a gofundme page to get him the help he needs – because I can afford it.

I understand how important it is to be smart with money, but seriously? Why do you need to raise money for a friend even though you have the money to help him – and still have millions of dollars left over?

I don’t have a clue why they did this. You’d think instead that they would maybe do a short charity tour to raise money – or perhaps just have Jerry Cantrell stroke him a check.

My point is, if you have money there’s really no reason to start a charity for your friend.

I love this band so much, and maybe there’s something else to the story. I don’t know.

I am not in any way hating on them. I do love this band’s music and I definitely respect them as individuals for caring enough about Scotty to start him a page.

Who knows? Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe they started this page to make people aware of Alzheimer’s disease. Come to think, that’s probably why they did it.

Regardless of why they’re doing this, I love this band. And no matter what the reason they’re doing this is, that doesn’t change how good their music is.

I appreciate all taking the time to read this. Praying for Scotty’s health.
